Enchanted Waters: discover the most beautiful (and unknown) cenote
Cenote Uayma-Ha is a hidden gem located in the lush jungles of Yucatán, near the little town of Uayma, around 25 mins drive from Valladolid.
Uayma itself is worth a stop as it has a beautiful church!

This cenote features stunning blue waters, reaching a depth of about 27 meters and a diameter of approximately 80 meters. It’s a perfect spot for swimming, snorkelling, with wooden platforms providing access to the refreshing waters.
And the best part is: no one really knows it, including most locals!

I stumbled on it on Google and decided to hunt it down and, while it took some time to find it, it was absolutely worth it.
How to get to Cenote Uayma-Ha
Having your own transportation is probably the best option, or hire a driver for the day.
We hired Oscar for five days and he was great; details at the end.
Head to Uayma and follow the road on Google maps passing the little football pitch.
However, we found out, after three tries, that Google directions are wrong after that point and while Google tells you to go straight after the football pitch, you need to turn right.
Turn right and follow the road. It will be sign posted after a while.

As I said, very few people know this cenote. The site is still under construction and the owner is building some tree houses for future guests, so the secret will be out.
The entrance is $175 MX pesos and we had the cenote for ourselves.
The scenery is just pure magic.

When we arrived, after midday, the rays of sunlight hit the far wall of the cenote casting a mystical aura around the whole cave.

Swimming into that crater surrounded by light was one of the most incredible feelings.
There is no rush, no other people trying to get in, just bliss.
It is also filled with little black fish, with long moustaches. They were playful and not harmful at all.
It definitely was the best cenote I have seen so far!
Please remember, cenotes were (and are) sacred places, treat them with respect.

How to visit
I recommend either having your own car or hiring a private driver.
I mentioned Oscar, the driver we hired for five days which I thoroughly recommend, for his knowledge, professionality and reasonable rates.
Here is the article about our experience with Oscar and his contact: https://blog.worldswithout.net/oscar-the-best-driver-in-yucatan/
