Make it a Prague weekend: the most magical European capital
Prague is one of my favourite cities in Europe.
Nestled in the heart of Europe, Prague, the capital of the Czech Republic, is a city that effortlessly blends history, culture, and modernity. With its cobblestone streets, Gothic architecture, and vibrant arts scene, Prague promises an unforgettable experience for travellers.

Easily reached by flights from several international airports, it can also be reached by train from numerous European cities.

Day 1: A Walk Through History
Begin your journey at the Old Town Square, where centuries-old buildings surround you with stories of the past. Marvel at the intricate details of the Astronomical Clock, which dates back to 1410 and still captivates onlookers with its hourly show. As you wander through the square, you’ll encounter charming cafes and vibrant street performers.

From the Old Town Square, take a leisurely stroll to Charles Bridge, an iconic symbol of Prague. This historic bridge, adorned with statues of saints, offers breathtaking views of the Vltava River and the city’s skyline. Cross the bridge to reach the Lesser Town, where you can explore the Church of St. Nicholas and the picturesque Lesser Town Square.

Day 2: A Royal Experience
No visit to Prague is complete without a trip to Prague Castle, the largest ancient castle in the world. As you ascend the castle hill, you’ll be greeted by stunning views of the city. Explore the St. Vitus Cathedral, a masterpiece of Gothic architecture, and the charming Golden Lane, where you’ll find quaint, colourful houses that once housed castle guards and goldsmiths.

After immersing yourself in the history of the castle, descend to the Royal Garden, a serene oasis that offers a perfect spot for a leisurely walk or a picnic. Don’t miss the Lobkowicz Palace, home to a fascinating collection of art, music, and historical artifacts.
Day 3: Arts and Culture
Prague is a city that thrives on creativity, and there’s no better place to experience this than at the National Theatre.
Attend a performance of classical music, ballet, or opera in this stunning venue that has been a cultural hub since its opening in 1881.
For a taste of modern art, visit the DOX Centre for Contemporary Art. This dynamic space showcases a diverse range of exhibitions, from visual art to multimedia installations. Afterward, head to the Franz Kafka Museum to delve into the life and work of one of Prague’s most famous literary figures.

Culinary Delights
Prague’s culinary scene is a delightful blend of traditional Czech cuisine and international flavours. Indulge in hearty dishes like svíčková (marinated beef with creamy sauce) and trdelník (a sweet, doughy pastry rolled in sugar and walnuts). Pair your meal with a refreshing glass of Pilsner beer, a beloved local brew.
For a unique dining experience, visit Lokál, a traditional Czech pub that serves classic dishes in a lively atmosphere. If you’re in the mood for something more contemporary, head to Eska, where you’ll find innovative dishes made with locally sourced ingredients.
For vegetarians, try Smažený sýr (Fried Cheese With Potatoes).
There are several vegan restaurants in Prague.
Our favourite, Vegan’s, Prague is by Prague’s Castle complex. It has beautiful views from its outdoor terrace and the food is not bad either.
Dhaba Beas
Dhaba Beas is a chain of vegetarian and vegan buffet restaurants that can be found all over Prague. They use fresh, authentic ingredients to create delicious vegetarian dishes that hold their roots firmly in Indian, Vietnamese and Thai cuisine. Very inexpensive.
Herbivore
Herbivore is one of the best vegan restaurants in Prague. t’s a casual breakfast place but they serve lunch too. Just like Dhaba Beas, there’s a salad station where you pay by the weight of your lunch.

Hidden Gems
While Prague’s main attractions are certainly worth visiting, the city also hosts hidden gems that offer a glimpse into its lesser-known history.
Explore the Vyšehrad Fortress, a historic fort that offers panoramic views of the city.
Another hidden gem is the John Lennon Wall, a colourful mural that has become a symbol of peace and freedom. Leave your mark on the wall by adding your own message or artwork.
Prague is a city that invites you to wander, explore, and immerse yourself in its rich history and culture.
Whether you’re gazing at the spires of St. Vitus Cathedral, savouring a delicious pastry, or simply enjoying a walk along the Vltava River, Prague’s timeless charm is sure to leave you enchanted.
