Cluj-Napoca: a Romanian secret not for long
Snuggled in the scenic region of Transylvania, Cluj-Napoca is a vibrant city that beautifully marries rich history with contemporary culture.
Often referred to as the unofficial capital of Transylvania, this charming city is a hidden gem waiting to be discovered by travellers seeking an authentic Romanian experience.

Start your journey at the iconic St. Michael’s Church, an impressive Gothic structure that dates back to the 14th century. The church’s towering spire and stunning stained glass windows make it a must-visit landmark.

Just a stone’s throw away, the Unirii Square bustles with energy, surrounded by historical buildings that reflect Cluj’s diverse architectural styles—from Baroque to Renaissance.

Cluj-Napoca is a cultural hub, hosting numerous festivals throughout the year. If you visit in July, don’t miss the Transylvania International Film Festival, showcasing both local and international cinema. For art enthusiasts, the National Museum of Art offers a glimpse into Romania’s artistic heritage, featuring works from medieval times to contemporary pieces.

As the sun sets, Cluj-Napoca transforms into a lively city filled with bars, cafes, and nightclubs. The historic city centre comes alive with locals and visitors enjoying the vibrant nightlife. Whether you prefer a cozy wine bar or an energetic dance club, Cluj has something for everyone.

We decided to have dinner and watch the sun set on the city in Klausen Burger, a quite popular bar/restaurant with stunning views over the city.
The food is international with vegetarian options.
Clui-Napoca is really an up and coming destination that offers a cosmopolitan vibe and traditional Transylvanian charm and should not be missed in any Transylvanian itinerary.
